After recovering from my harrowing fall I climbed back up to the trail and finished crossing the snow field without incident. The remainder of the days hike passed rather uneventfully other than the views. Passing through valleys filled with dark green grass, rushing mountain streams, and cascading waterfalls.
I pushed on toward Podragu Cabana. Cresting a ridge I looked down on the quaint stone Cabana nestled beside a large mountain lake.
Cabana Podragu is a large two story bunkhouse with multiple bunk rooms, a common room, meals, toilets, and sinks. The bunk rooms are filled with bunk beds, each with pillows, sheets and two blankets. The toilets are of the Turkish type, so don’t walk around barefoot. The sinks have running water. For the location it has nice facilities. Meals can be bought here as well I had a potatoes soup for dinner with bread and a beer. It really hit the spot.
I sat out on the terrace of the cabana reviewing the hike for the next day. The hike involved climbing Moldoveanu Romania’s tallest mountain at 2.544m. After eating, studying, and watching the cabanas pack donkeys for a while I trudged off to the dorm room and fell asleep.
